1.0.1 Fixes a bug that prevented Koji The Frog from working on the IIsi's, LCs and other macs with only mono sound playback capability.
To use it, drag version 1.0.1 to your Koji The Frog 1.0 folder. That's it. 1.0.1 uses the same Koji Sprites, Koji Sounds and Koji Pictures files that you (hopefully) have already received with version 1.0
Description
Koji The Frog is an arcade game in which you, as Koji, have to shoot your tongue and jump to catch insects (flies, bees, and ladybugs). This task would be simple if it wasn't for a snake, lightning, mad bees, a car and a grumpy gopher (with dinamite). Help comes from a magic butterfly that appears every 20,000 points. If you eat it, the tongue gets longer and your jumps higher.
It features fast color graphics and multichannel sound.
Requirements
Software: System 6.0.7 or higher - Will work on System 7.5
Hardware: Color capable Macintosh 8bit (256 colors) and a 13" (640x480) monitor or larger.
General Info
Pressing the space bar while the opening screen is visible will hide/show the menu bar. You can then switch applications. The menu bar also automatically appears when the game is paused. This allows you to hide Koji The Frog by switching another application in front and to set the sound volume from the menu bar.
Since Koji The Frog requires 8bit color, it will prevent you from changing the monitor's depth while it is the foreground application. However, the depth you tried to switch to will be "remembered" and set when you quit Koji or whenever you send it to the background.
Tech Info
Since so many of you asked...
Koji was mainly written in C and assembly. Custom graphic routines for drawing, erasing and blitting the game sprites are fully written in assembly.
Creating New Sound or Sprite files
If you wish to create new sound or sprite files, please make sure you do not change the IDs of the resources you edit. If you change the sounds, please remember to allocate more memory to Koji in the Finder. The expected sound resource format is:
Format 1, 22Khz, uncompressed, sampled sound resources. Koji will otherwise not work.
